Lotus Oops....

Photos and words by the car's owner Doug Troutman...Doug's wife was driving the car. She was driving to work in
Yosemite National Park from Wawona to the valley, passed a truck, then hit the brakes and the right front locked up.
She did go over the side. She came out of it OK. This accident happened a while ago...Oct 20,1975...but Doug
thought you would like to see how well an Elan "takes it".

"The photo bottom right shows how energy was also dissipated by the rear end of the car. The driver's door, hood, and exhaust system are in the passenger compartment. Photo on the bottom left shows the road and an impression of the drop off, photo on the top left is taken from direction of travel toward the site, and I am standing where the car went off. If the photo transmits clearly enough, you can see the skid marks on the road."
